LAXMI UDYOG manufacturers the best quality "LAXMI " SUCKER
RODS/ PONY RODS in grades and sizes detailed in Table no.1
Keeping in view that Sucker Rods/ Pony Rods are subjected to
tremendous forces of pull and compression with vibration and
are exposed to hostile environment containing acids, salts,
abrasives and other contamination's, Rods are designed to
match the conditions and requirements of the oil wells.
API grade Sucker Rods/ Pony Rods are made in full compliance
with the latest edition of API Specification 11 13. Other
high grade and ultra high grade strength Sucker Rods for
heavy and extra heavy load services are manufactured out of
material with mechanical properties mentioned in the Table.
The incoming material is carefully inspected for any damage
fault and discontinuities and tested for chemical
composition & N.D.T. before putting it in process of
manufacturing. High quality standard is maintained at
various stage inspections.
Manufacturing :
Sucker Rods / Pony Rods are manufactured from hot rolled
carbon or alloy steel detailed in Table no.1. Rolled Rods
are machine straightened and cold drawn to the required
size. Both ends are hot upset forged to API designed shape.
The rods are heat treated over the full length by Induction
Process. As per requirement of mechanical properties, the
rods are normalized or normalized and tempered to the
specified level or quenched and tempered to the required
hardness and strength, Care is taken to obtain refined grain
structure with no residual stresses in the rod. A sample
specimen is cut from the heat treated material and is tested
for ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and
elongation. The rod is then again checked for straightness.
The forged ends are properly aligned with its body. Rods are
decaled and cleaned. The upset forged ends are machined on
C.N.C. Lathe machines as per API dimensions given in Table
no. 2. Threads on both ends are cold formed on Thread
Rolling Machine and checked with API approved gauges.

Dimension and
Tolerances :
External dimensions of
Couplings and Sub-Couplings shall be as per table 5.
Anti Galling Treatment & Rust Prevention :
Sucker Rods ends,
Couplings and Sub-Couplings are subjected to phosphate
treatment to reduce galling tendency and help in protecting
them against atmospheric corrosion while in transit and
storage. The exposed metallic surface are also treated to
protect them from rusting
Packing / Storage / Handling :
Rods are packed according to API recommendation to prevent
damage during handling and transportation. Care is taken to
prevent stresses due to cold bending of rods when these are
lifted. Suckers Rods are placed in wooden frames in round
recesses spaced on them. Proper fixing arrangement for
lifting the crate is made. |
